A Quiet Port with a Wide Purpose

Yuge Sea Station stands as Japan's first purpose-built Umi no Eki (Sea Station). A project born out of thoughtful dialogue between Kamijima Town and Japan’s sailing community.

In 2017, the town hosted workshops with yacht travelers to understand what was most needed when sailing between islands. The result is this station: a purpose-built haven with practical facilities, located at a natural crossroads in the heart of the Seto Inland Sea.

Since its opening, Yuge Sea Station has become well known among sailors for its easy docking, deep mooring, and proximity to supermarkets, showers, cafes, and ferry lines — all within a few minutes’ walk. It's a place built for real use, informed by real travelers.

Kamijima is a small island town made up of several inhabited and uninhabited islands scattered through the Seto Inland Sea. Life here flows a little more gently. IWAGI

Known as “The Island of Blue Lemon,” Iwagi is famous for its cherry blossoms, ‘blue’ lemons, lemon pork, scenic hiking routes, and lively seasonal festivals.

UOSHIMA

The islands of Toyoshima, Takaikamijima, and Uoshima. Once home to fishing communitie, now quiet places with open skies, old stories, and space to breathe.

Yuge Sea Station has been operated by Kamijima Collective since 2020.

We are a community-based initiative focused on creative collaboration, regenerative tourism, and supporting island life in fresh, grounded ways.
The collective runs seasonal events, small workshops, hospitality spaces, and storytelling platforms throughout the islands. We’re here to welcome visitors, engage locals, and help build a future that values connection, care, and creativity.

The Sea Station is one of our core locations — a place where those values take tangible form in rest, service, and human encounter.
